In 1992, Wind participated in the Eurovision Song Contest with Träume sind für alle da. And as with their other two entries, there is an English version of the song. I didn't know this until I found a listing of this single on the website of Fun Records in April. It was a nice discovery, and of course I ordered the single right away.
I've always been a sucker for translations of Eurovision songs by the original artists - although I still have to find Japanese singles of Udo Jürgens and Gigliola Cinquetti that apparently exist. 'Dreams are made for everyone' is a good translation of the original, and sounds almost identical to the German studio version.
My collection: 7" single no. 5785
Found: Fun Records, Berlin, received April 24, 2015
Cost: 1 euro
Tracks: 'Dreams are made for everyone' / 'One night only'

Lass die Sonne in dein Herz - Wind
The single Lass die Sonne in dein Herz has appeared on this blog as far back as March 2009, but this copy is quite different from that one. This one is the original German release, probably released right after their triumph in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1987. It features the B-side 'Immer dabei' instead of the English version of the A-side song (like on that other copy).
Like I wrote back in 2009, the song was written and composed by longtime Contest contributors for Germany Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger. It is a reggae-oriented track with a lyric full of positive platitudes.
My collection: 7" single no. 5604
Found: Chelsea Records, Antwerpen, August 10, 2014
Cost: 1 euro
Tracks: 'Lass die Sonne in dein Herz' / 'Immer dabei'

For everyone - Wind
The German band Wind entered the Eurovision Song Contest three times, but their debut took place in 1985, when they represented Germany with the song 'Für alle'. They finished second in a field of 19 competitors.
The band recorded the song in three other languages: French ('Pour tout le monde'), Swedish ('Så många människor' and English ('For everyone'). This single features the English version. The B-side of the original German single, 'Feuer und eis' also appears in an English version here as 'Fire and ice'.
My collection: 7" single no. 5255
Found: Record fair, Utrecht, November 19, 2011
Cost: 5 euro

Träume sind für alle da - Wind
'Träume sind für alle da' ('Dreams are there for everyone') was the German entry in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest, performed by Wind. This was Wind's third Eurovision entry, they had previously represented Germany at the 1985 and 1987 contests with 'Für alle' and 'Lass die Sonne in dein Herz', both times finishing in 2nd position.
This sog was less successful, as it finished 16th in a field of 23 competitors. The song is in the schlager style made famous by composer-lyricist team Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger and consists of a series of sketches of characters who are dreaming of a change in their lives. The first of these, for example, is a young girl waiting on a platform for a train which she believes will take her to success.
My collection: 7" single no. 1680
Found: Deutschlandsberg, Austria, July 2, 1992
Cost: 54 Schilling
Tracks: 'Träume sind für alle da' / 'Freitagabend'

Lass die Sonne in dein Herz - Wind
Wind represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time in 1987 with 'Lass die Sonne in dein Herz'. Just like the first time in 1985, they ended up on second place, behind Johnny Logan, who won with 'Hold me now' for Ireland. Their performance is notable for including as a backing singer Robert Pilatus, later to achieve infamy in connection with Milli Vanilli.
Written and composed by longtime Contest contributors for Germany Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger, the song is a reggae-oriented track with a lyric full of positive platitudes.
My collection: 7" single no. 540

Für alle - Wind
The German band Wind represented Germany during the 1985 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Für alle' ('For everyone'). They did so with good success: they finished second behind that year's winners: Bobbysocks for Norway.
The group was started briefly before the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 by the composer Hanne Haller. The other members of the band at that time were Alexander "Ala" Heiler, Christine von Kutschenbach, Rainer Höglmeier, Willie Jakob, Sami Kalifa and Petra Scheeser. The band would return to the Contest twice: in 1987 and in 1992.
