Released as a single from Fay Lovsky's 1985 album 'Cinema', 'Goodnight Galileo' was another unsuccessful release for her. Throughout her career, only one single managed to reach (the lower regions of) the Dutch Top 40, and although many more singles were released, none of them met with commercial success.
Still, this single is worth a listen, even if you don't know Fay Lovsky. Most of her work can be characterized as artistically accomplished.

The pen is the mightiest weapon - Fay Lovsky
In 1985, Fay Lovsky released her fourth album 'Cinema'. The album was produced by Fay Lovsky herself. Two singles were drawn from the album: 'Galileo' and 'The pen is the mightiest weapon'. Both singles did not chart.
After this album, Fay joined the Dutch band The Magnificent 7, which existed between 1986 and 1991 and released only one album.

One more time - Fay Lovsky
Another single from Fay Lovsky's 1983 album 'Origami', 'One more time' is a ballad with a very intimate instrumentation. It's another single by Lovsky that didn't make the Dutch charts, although it was heavily promoted at the time as the follow-up to 'Ramon'.
I found this single together with three other Fay Lovsky releases in Belgium, which is quite extraordinary since they are so hard to find in Lovsky's native Netherlands.

Ramon - Fay Lovsky
Taken from Fay Lovsky's 1983 album 'Origami', the track 'Ramon' was remixed for the single release. It was one of many Fay Lovsky singles that didn't reach the Dutch Top 40.
I've seen this single numerous times over the years, but it is only now that I've decided to collect all of her singles that I finally got around to buying this one. I didn't know the track so well, but I'm glad to say this is one of her better singles.

Excerpts from the forthcoming album 'Origami' - Fay Lovsky
This 7" single was released to promote the new album by Dutch artist Fay Lovsky, 'Origami', released in 1983. At the time, Lovsky was attracting some media attention with 'Don't feed the animals', which was the first single from the album. Getting a hold of these promotional items is always hard, but I'm glad to have found it: it's a nice collection of samples.
The promo contains one minute samples of all the tracks on the album: 'Ramon', 'Window across the street', 'Disney dust', 'Columbus Avenue', 'Sugar me Sam', 'Palmtree luxury', 'California daze', 'Don't feed the animals', 'Never seem able (to say goodbye)', 'Fuss and fight', 'Tiger and I' and 'One more time'.

Automatic pilot - Fay Lovski
Fay Lovski was one of the more interesting artists in the Netherlands during the first half of the Eighties. Her 1982 single 'Automatic pilot' did not reach the Dutch Top 40, but it is still a very charming song, making great use of the new sounds of that time.
I have to say that I've mostly forgotten about this song. I still decided to buy the single because most of her songs during that time are quite special. Fortunately, this one is no exception.

Maggie - Fay Lovski
Another single by Fay Lovski, and another one that didn't become a hit. It was a popular song on radio and television, probably because of its upbeat sixties-style production. The song was taken from the album 'Confetti', an album I've been looking for since the late Eighties, mostly because of the track 'He don't love me anymore', a beautiful ballad that was not released as a single, unfortunately.
I found this single just before going to a birthday party in Utrecht that night. It was an annual tradition to buy some records before going to that party.

Don't feed the animals - Fay Lovski
Fay Lovski was born as Fay Luyendijk in Leiden on September 11, 1955. Her music career started in 1980 with the album 'Sound on sound', named after the recording technique she used to make her songs.
'Don't feed the animals' was a single taken from her third album 'Origami' (1983). Like the majority of her singles it didn't make the Dutch Top 40.

Christmas was a friend of mine - Fay Lovski
Somehow Dutch singer Fay Lovski managed to create a Christmas classic without even having a big hit with it. 'Christmas was a friend of mine' entered the Dutch top 40 on January 9, 1982, reached number 37 and left the chart after only two weeks. But still, when you're in Holland during this festive season, you will hear the song on the radio daily.
Admittedly, it is a beautiful song. Perhaps it was a bit too complicated for the general public to appreciate, though. I didn't mind buying the single for a discount price, a few years after it came out.
My collection: 7" single no. 361
Found: Disco Market, Den Haag, 1985
