We got the beat - Go-Go's

Originally this picture disc came in a transparent sleeve with a sticker, but the sticker is gone and now all I have is the picture disc. It's a beautiful picture disc and it features two songs by the Go-Go's: 'We got the beat' and 'Our lips are sealed'. I already owned the latter, of course, but I couldn't leave this picture disc behind  

'We got the beat' was originally released in 1980 on Stiff Records, but it was re-recorded for their debut album Beauty and the Beat on I.R.S. Records. It became the Go-Go's biggest hit, spending three weeks at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, behind Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' 'I love Rock 'n Roll'.

Our lips are sealed - Gogo's

Written by Go-Go's guitarist Jane Wiedlin and Specials and Fun Boy Three singer Terry Hall, 'Our lips are sealed' was first recorded by the Go-Go's as the lead single from their 1981 album 'Beauty and the Beat'. It was their debut American single. The single peaked at number 20 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 47 in the UK singles chart.

The following year, Terry Hall re-recorded the song with his own band, Fun Boy Three. This version became a major hit, reaching number 7 in the UK singles chart.

Vacation - Gogo's

Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine and Gina Schock formed the Gogo's in 1978. Initially a punk band, the band moved into rock territory with their debut album 'Beauty and the beat' (1981). After a Grammy award for Best New Artist in 1982, they released their second album 'Vacation'.

This single is the title track from that album. While the album got a Grammy award for Best Packaging, this single did not chart in Europe.
