Jackie DeShannon, Randy Myers and Jimmy Holiday composed 'Put a little love in your heart' in 1968. DeShannon recorded the track, and had a number 4 hit with it in the USA.
Twenty years later, Annie Lennox and Al Green recorded a cover version of the track, which was used in the 1988 movie 'Scrooged', starring Bill Murray. The song reached number 9 in the USA, number 13 in the Netherlands and was a top 40 hit in several countries worldwide.

No more I love you's - Annie Lennox
'No more I love you's' was the last single by Annie Lennox to be released on the 7" vinyl format. It was a great last one, because this song received a Grammy Award in 1995 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. It also went number 1 in the UK. In the Netherlands, it peaked at number 23.
The original version of this song was performed by The Lover Speaks in 1986. The B-side of this single is a cover of 'Ladies of the canyon', originally written and performed by Joni Mitchell.

Little bird / Love song for a vampire - Annie Lennox
While the fourth single from Annie Lennox's album 'Diva' (1992), 'Cold' was not released on 7" vinyl, it was a surprise that the fifth single was. It was a double A-side single, featuring 'Little bird' in a remixed version from the album, plus a new track: 'Love song for a vampire', recorded for the soundtrack of the movie 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'.
The single reached number 3 in the UK singles chart, but did not chart in other territories.
My collection: 7" single no. 2548
Found: Record Exchange, London, November 1, 1995
Cost: 2 pounds
Tracks: 'Little bird' / 'Love song for a vampire'

Precious - Annie Lennox
'Precious' was the second single taken from Annie Lennox' debut cd 'Diva'. The song was written by Annie Lennox herself and produced, like the album, by Steve Lipson. The single version was very different from the album version.
The single was not the big success the previous single 'Why' was, peaking at number 23 in the UK and number 30 in the Netherlands.
My collection: 7" single no. 1962
Found: Melody Maker, Den Haag, September 25, 1993
Cost: 6 guilders
Tracks: 'Precious (single version)' / 'Precious (album version)'

Why - Annie Lennox
After having been one half of Eurythmics together with David A. Stewart, Annie Lennox started to work on a solo album together with former Trevor Horn protegé Stephen Lipson. The first result of their work was the single 'Why', released in early 1992. The single was an immediate commercial success, peaking at number 1 in Italy, number 5 in the UK and Ireland and number 6 in Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
I bought the single immediately after its release, convinced as I was that Annie Lennox's work was worth buying. And it was, at least for that first album 'Diva'. Later albums never quite reached that level of quality in my humble opinion...
