Pas pour moi - Daniela Simons

Sometimes it's no fun being a collector. I already had 'Pas pour moi' and 'Nee voor mij', the French, English and Dutch versions of the Swiss entry for the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest. Recently it turned out that there was also a German version of the song. And so, here's a third single, added to the collection, again with an almost identical sleeve.

The good news is, with this single the collection is actually complete. It doesn't happen very often that it's possible to get all the versions of a Eurovision song for a relatively cheap price, because translated versions often command high prices. So I guess I should count my blessings on this one.

My collection: 7" single no. 6710

Found you out - Daniela Simons

Eurovision singer Daniela Simons followed up her 1986 Eurovision single 'Pas pour moi' with several other singles. 'Found you out' was released in 1989 and sounds nothing like the Eurovision song. It is an attempt to reach the charts with danceable music.

It's a nice enough song, but it didn't chart anywhere, as far as I know. But I am open to any suggestions on where to find more information about this single.

Nee voor mij - Daniela Simons

It doesn't happen very often that a Eurovision artist chooses to re-record their song in Dutch. Nicole did it with her 'Ein Bisschen Frieden', and there's a Dutch version of Carola's 'Främling', but aside from a few lesser known releases, that's about it.

Daniela Simons, who represented Switzerland in 1986 with the song 'Pas pour moi', did it with 'Nee voor mij' ('No for me'). Hilariously, she pronounces the word 'man' ('man') as 'maan' ('moon'). Still, she speaks Dutch better than I do French, so I won't make too much a fuss about it. However, the single didn't chart in the Netherlands and I have no info about any other artist attempting to release a Dutch cover of their Eurovision entry after 1986.

Pas pour moi - Daniela Simons

Daniela Simons represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 in Bergen with the song 'Pas pour moi'. The song finished second behind Belgium's entry. Simons had made previous attempts to represent Switzerland. In 1983 she came last in the national selection with 'Dis moi tout'. She took second place in 1985 with 'Repars a zero'.

On this single, the B-side is an English version of 'Pas pour moi'. I liked the song, but only bought it because I found it in a discount bin years later.

My collection: 7" single no. 1909
Found: Plaatboef, Leiden, May 19, 1993
Cost: 0,5 guilder
Tracks: 'pas pour moi' / 'Candlelight'
