The single reached number 19 in the UK singles chart and number 7 in Denmark, but was not successful in other European countries. The B-side 'In private' is a new version of a song originally written for Dusty Springfield. This time the track is recorded as a duet between Neil Tennant and Elton John.
My collection: 7" single no. 3447
Found: HMV, London, 2006
Cost: 2 pounds
Tracks: 'Minimal (radio edit)' / 'In private (7 inch mix)'
Yep, this is a nice one. The A side I mean. Typical PSB and I like it very much :-) . Unfortunately the B side is a duet with Elton John. He can't sing anyt high notes these days. The covers of the boys own songs are never very successfull according to my taste.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I thought Dusty Springfield's version was way better too. And even 'Rent' by the Pet Shop Boys can't beat Liza Minelli's 'Rent'.
ReplyDeleteHey, just wanted to mention that your Pet Shop Boys blog entries are awesome. I haven't seen most of the vinyl covers before. They are so cool! Good work.
