'Circle of love' was the eleventh studio album by the Steve Miller Band, released in 1981. Side 2 of the original LP was a 16 minute track called 'Macho city'. An edit of this track was made for the single that was released in December 1981.
The single didn't chart in the UK, but reached number 33 in the Dutch Top 40. The B-side was an old classic of the band: the iconic 'Fly like an eagle'.

'Fly like an eagle' was written by Steve Miller. It appeared on his 1976 album of the same title. The song went to number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart during the week of January 8, 1977. Amazingly, it didn't chart in the UK, but it did reach number 27 in the Netherlands. Since then, it has gotten some sort of 'classic' status.
In 1997, Seal recorded a cover version of this song for the soundtrack of the movie 'Space Jam'. Still, nothing beats the original.
The Steve Miller Band has received some criticism for this song. True, 'Abra, abracadabra / I wanna reach out and grab ya' isn't one of those lyrics you have to praise for its eloquence, but it's still a good pop song. Selling the way it did (a number one hit in America, peaking at number 2 in the UK and number 18 in the Netherlands) the audiences in various countries certainly made up their own minds.
A quarter of a century later it still sounds pretty credible. If kids were still listening to music, they would buy this I'm sure.
