A search of 25 years came to an end two years ago when I found the 7" single of 'Masked moods' by Blue Rondo. I thought that would be the end of it, but I should have known there was also a 12" single. Not that it contains a different version of the track, but I bought this copy just to be sure. It was quite amazing to spot it in a record shop not too far from home - and getting 50% off because that record shop is closing down.
Despite the absence of a different version of 'Masked moods', it's still a nice 12" single, as the other tracks are very dancable.

Chris Sullivan, Christos Tolera, Mark Reilly, 'Choco' Mick, Kito Poncioni, Geraldo d'Arbilly and Moses Mount Bassie formed Blue Rondo a la Turk in the early Eighties, naming themselves after the familiar Dave Brubeck jazz track.
'The heavens are crying' was released as a single in 1982 on the Diable Noir label. The single didn't chart.

Nothing can adequately describe that feeling of satisfaction, relief and happiness when you finally hold in your hand that one item you've been searching for ages. In this case, twenty five years! I got to know 'Masked moods' thanks to this video, which appeared regularly on the Music Box TV channel.
I loved this song, but I could never find the single, despite looking for it intensively ever since 1984, when it was released. I did find the album 'Bees Knees & Chicken Elbows' (1984), which contains a different version of the track. But I was obviously after the single version. Last week, I finally spotted a copy on the Vinyl Tap website. I bought it, and today I could finally hold it in my hands. A long quest has finally come to an end.
