Massimo Ranieri was born as Giovanni Calone on May 3, 1951 in Naples, Italy. He started singing at the tender age of ten, starting his recording career three years later. After many hits near the end of the Sixties, he started to venture into acting. His screen debut, 'Metello', received rave reviews by critics, and he even won an award for portraying the title character.In 1971, he was asked to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. He performed the song 'L'amore e' un attimo' and finished fifth in a field of in Dublin, Ireland, where he placed 5th with the song, 'L'Amore E' Un Attimo'. This single features the French version of that song.
